When I got back home early 2 days ago, my dad and I went into town to buy a new mouse for my brothers laptop (it didn’t want to eat cheese anymore). In the park we saw small fir cone laying on the ground and when I picked it up it fell apart but the part I had in my hand still covered my whole hand. I’m lucky it didn’t drop on my head as I think I either would have a hole in my head or would be knock-out on the ground. When I looked at the tree where it came out I did understand why the cone was so big, the tree itself was big as well.
That same evening Rob, Gerda, dad and I went on Possum Patrol, or in other words spotting wild life. First we drove to Blowering Dam, but when we only could see Kangaroos we decided to head back into town and park the car near the river. From there we would walk along the river to the local cabin park. On the walk we’ve heard some Possums and saw the odd one by shining our torch on it, but the best thing we could see then were the shining eyes looking down from the trees. A bit further we heard some noise in the bush and just before we shined our light on it a big cow came out of it. I thought that’s a mighty Possum :). When we arrived at the cabin park we didn’t need our torch anymore as we could see loads of Possums walking around the street lights and cabin light. We were lucky they weren’t shy at all, other people were not that lucky as some Possums walked into the cabin to come out again a few seconds later with food in their paws. How do you mean cheeky :). I can’t say which kind of Possums it were we saw as I didn’t see these ones on Tasmania. The ones I saw there were the Brushtail Possums, which have a fluffy tail. Nevertheless it are funny animals to see and if you can’t imagine them, think about the animation movie Madagaskar.
Yesterday Rob, dad and I went on another 4x4 trip and this time we didn’t get stuck. But we did have some steep climbs and descents again. The biggest reason to go today was to head to the viewing point in the hills to look down to Tumut. From this point you could see the whole area around Tumut as well and if you turned around you could see Batlow as well as the Visy Pulp & Paper mill, Rob’s work.
The coming week I’m going to pick loads of apples again as well wishing my parents a homebound journey before I’m going to undertake some trips or activities again. And if I have to work 7 days a week, it can take a while before I could do such thing.
