After an earlier attempt to reach the top of Mt Wellington (with Marlous, see an earlier message) I have been able to reach the top again last Thursday. After a short stop at the top I drove back to the Chalet to walk the Organ Pipes Track which starts at the Chalet (1000m). This track brings you near one of the most beautifull features of the mountain. A group of dolerite rocks that look like Organ Pipes. From a distant they already look great, but standing on the base of them they even look more impressive than you probably can imagine. I walked this 1,5h return track as a warming up for the Zig Zag Track which you can start either from the Springs (700m) or at the Chalet via the Organ Pipes to the top of the mountain. On the Zig Zag Track you can hear why the Organ Pipes are called the Organ Pipes. Well I think depending on the wind. But that will be another message. 1 long walk at the time!!
